How We Started
Seeing a gap in intentional support for small businesses in the Central Coast, co-founders Hugo and Jacob decided to step in and do something about it. Together, they recognized the importance of offering relevant resources for entrepreneurs who often found themselves overlooked. By combining Hugo’s detail-oriented, numbers-driven mindset with Jacob’s visionary, creative perspective, they built Compass Business Services from the ground up, starting with a strategic business plan and a commitment to authentic community partnerships.
Our Partnership
Hugo and Jacob grew up in the same community, crossed paths through the local Chamber of Commerce, and eventually teamed up under the SLO County Workforce Development Board. As they worked together, a shared vision emerged: to bring meaningful, hands-on assistance to entrepreneurs. Hugo specializes in identifying critical needs and tracking financials, while Jacob excels at brainstorming creative solutions and developing big-picture strategies. Together, they make decisions by combining their unique perspectives and turning discussion into action.
